Kindness Poem

Walt : use new words that suit my Kindness Poem

I was able to write my kindness poem about Wonder I really loved to do this activity because I like learning new words.

Auggie's Classroom

Walt: identify and use the perimeter rule to calculate the size of Ague's classroom.

I really loved to do the Wonder activity about Auggie's classroom where we had to make own classroom and measure it.  I solved the perimeter by first adding the 10's and then the 5's.

Next time I could try to use harder numbers to add.

Maths - Expanding Numbers

WALT : expand 3 digit numbers

I was able to write the Numbers down and use blocks to help.

Next time I think that I could try working out the Hundreds, tens, ones just using a white board without the blocks

Labour Day

Walt : understand passing on messages is important so we understand why we celebrate.

In my group we found out facts about Labour Day.   I had no idea why we celebrated Labour Day and now I know why.

I think it is important to pass on messages about Labour Day because if I don't pass on the information about Labour Day then it might not happen any more.    I could pass the Labour Day message onto my mum and dad.

Writing Evidence

Walt : use persuasive words in my speeches.

I was able to use words like good, because and I believe.

Next time I am going to use more.   I could use the sheets in the back of my learning journey.

A to Z of Celebrations

Here is our A to Z.  I found this activity really fun to do because it was fun looking for the pictures.

Around the World Celebrations

This slideshow is about  birthdays around the world.  The country I did was England.  I learnt that England has a birthday song like New Zealand.

Queen's Secret

Reflection

I enjoyed this story.  I found the questions easy to answer.   I think the maid should have kept the Queen's secret to herself because the secret got shared with lots of others and the message got exaggerated.

Fractions

I was working on fractions. This slide shows circles with 3/8 and 4/8.
Underneath  I have ordered fractions  from  smallest to biggest.

This side shows a  circle  with 7/8. It also shows the numerator and denominator in a fraction.

Birthdays Now and Then

Walt : to compare and contrast birthdays.

I found the activities fun and amazing. I wish that I could do it a again  at camp Merc.

My Kenning Poem

Spelling - 45 Letter Sounds

 

Walt : use different spelling patterns and strategies to increase my word knowledge.

There are 45 letters sounds in the English language.  Sometimes these sounds are made by one letter and sometimes they are a made by a group of letters together.  Learning these letter sounds will help me spell unknown tricky words and increase my word knowledge.

Reading - New Vocabulary

Walt : actively seek to extend my knowledge of new vocabulary.

During the year I will be trying my hardest to learn new words.    When I come across a new word in my reading I will record it in my word clarification spreadsheet.  I will find the meaning of the word and then find other words that mean the same eg. synonyms.

I will try and use my new words that I learn in my writing.

Welcome Post

This year I am feeling happy to have my friend in room 19.  I am looking forward to learning new things in room 19.

One of my goals this year is to get an enviromental certificate at the end of the year.  I would like to try one of the fun day sports with Phoenix.
